The Department of History was established in the academic year 2019–2020 with a vision to impart historical knowledge and cultural awareness among rural students. The department offers a Undergraduate Programme- B.A History (Tamil Medium), designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of India’s and the world’s historical evolution, culture and heritage. Since its inception, the department has been guided by experienced and dedicated faculty members who continuously strive to provide quality education and holistic development for the students.

The department focuses not only on academic excellence but also on character building and moral values, preparing students to become responsible citizens and confident individuals in life after college. Recognising the importance of experiential learning, the department regularly organises historical field trips to heritage sites, monuments, and museums, providing students with first-hand exposure to the richness of India’s past.

Though situated in a rural area, the department proudly serves a majority of students from village backgrounds, offering them opportunities to explore and appreciate the legacy of history. The students actively participate in community outreach programmes, creating awareness about history and antiquities among the people in nearby villages.

In addition to the prescribed curriculum, the department gives special attention to competitive examination training, encouraging students to prepare for various government and civil service exams.

The department also takes pride in the achievements of its students – many of our outgoing graduates have successfully enrolled in various Universities and colleges across Tamil Nadu to pursue higher education.
